Professor Winlaw is a translational researcher who works with basic scientists in the fields of genetics and heart function to bring insights and treatments from the lab to the bedside, to address the big issues in treatment of congenital heart disease.
He is Professor in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. He is also the Head of Kids Heart Research at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Honorary Faculty member of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
Professor Winlaw has current and previous peer reviewed research funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), National Heart Foundation (Career Development Fellow 2006-2010), and the US based March of Dimes. Research grants have also been awarded by The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Heartkids NSW and Heartkids Australia.
